Ferro silicon 65 is an alloy of iron and silicon. It is used to remove oxygen from steel during production. This means it reacts with oxygen to form stable silicate slag. The alloy also helps to make cast iron stronger by encouraging the formation of graphite. The exothermic reaction (heat production) during steelmaking helps to keep the ladles at the right temperature. The size of the particles (usually 0-10 mm, 10-50 mm or 50-100 mm) affects how quickly they dissolve and how well they work in different situations.
